With our head office based in Melbourne, we’ve always taken great pride in our involvement with the AFL Grand Final.
From the Grand Final Village, September Club, Footy Festival to the Grand Final Parade, Melbourne comes alive during Grand Finals Week and 1300TempFence are there every step of the way to ensure that this fantastic week-long event runs smoothly. This year, bump in commenced on the 5th of September and our team worked right up until the Grand Final public holiday. Bump in requires extra vigilance, as we work up alongside the public who are strolling or using electric scooters nearby. With one main forklift used for the entire event a spotter is required to ensure utmost safety.
Overall, we were contracted to supply and install:
Grand Final Village:
- 450 meters of spec fence
- 150 meters of crowd control barriers
- 144 meters of weed mats
- 450 meters of printed banners from our sister company, Signage HQ
September Club:
- 941 meters of spec fence
- 220 meters of crowd control barriers
- Installation of 941 meters of banners
Footy Festival:
- 785 meters of spec fence
- 123 meters of temporary fence
- 75 km of crowd control barriers
- 472 meters of white picket fencing
- 785 meters of weed mats
- 118 custom-made white temporary fence feet

It’s safe to say that the Grand Final Parade was our largest event of the Grand Final season. We carried out the installation of 6 km’s of Crowd Control Barriers (crowdies) for the parade, employing four crews who worked a staggered bump in, in accordance to the customer’s requirements.
As soon as the parade concluded, our team began the bump out process. Working under tight timelines, we had to remove the barriers blocking roads so that they could reopen safely to traffic. Additionally, we had a run of crowdies over William Barrack Bridge, requiring a specialised forklift, as trucks couldn’t access the bridge. All of this was completed whilst large crowds were still wondering around.
Our operations team provided great support throughout the event. All Project Managers were involved at some stage across all events. Ben Cassar, or as otherwise known, “CCB Ben”, did an absolutely amazing job orchestrating the delivery of the Grand Final Parade.
The event was a tremendous success, drawing in a large crowd and creating an electric atmosphere for footy fans. The event organizers were highly satisfied with 1300TempFence’s service and had this to say,
“Thanks to the team for their work on the Grand Final Parade.
An enormous amount of CCBs were installed and removed, on what was a huge day in the searing sun for the crew. Please pass on my thanks to the whole team for a smooth roll out and removal, which saw us able to open Batman Ave almost 2 hours ahead of time too.
See you at the next event.”
